Credit Card processing message – “DO NOT reprocess”

CREDIT CARD PROCESSING MESSAGE:  “DO NOT REPROCESS TRANSACTION”

You may receive a message similar to the one below when processing a credit card. Please follow the instructions given in the message and DO NOT re-process the transaction. Carry on with your process and then create an email to be sent to night audit so they can confirm the status of the credit card transaction.

Items to Include in your email:

  • reservation or folio number
  • property & unit #
  • guest name on the card
  • amount you were trying to process
  • type of transaction: payment or authorize

When you receive a message similar to this, it could be caused by a communication error, like this one states where the utg is not running. Or it could be a communication error where the transaction did get sent to Shift4/DOTN but RCC did not receive a response.  Therefore, we have to check on the DOTN website to verify the transaction status.

In the summary window, you will see the “!” as this will indicate that the transaction did not get processed.
